Walk for The Brain Tumour Charity

Donation protected
On the 31st September 2014 when my Dad, Gary, was 39 and I, Will, was 11 he was diagnosed with Oligodendroglioma. This is a rare type of brain tumour and was found at grade 2 (slow-growing). From 2014 to 2020 Gary went through one round of chemotherapy, however in 2020, Gary’s tumour had progressed to grade 3 (Anaplastic Oligodendroglioma). Since then my Dad has gone through; 2 more rounds of chemotherapy, 2 rounds of radiotherapy and brain surgery, which resulted in the doctors removing part of his right temporal lobe.

Despite all of this, my Dad never fails to have a smile on his face whilst also putting smiles on other people’s faces. He is always there to support me, especially when he’s watching me play rugby league.
Due to everything my Dad has done for me, even after his diagnosis, I’ve decided it’s time to show him how appreciative I am for everything he does.

On the 29th of May me and my friends are going to walk from Robin Hoods Bay to Runswick Bay, which is around 14 miles. At the end of the walk we will do a sea dip into the chilly North Sea.

The charity we are hoping to raise lots of money for by doing this walk is ‘The Brain Tumour Charity’. This charity is very important for me, Gary and the rest of our family as it supports and helps other people in similar situations to us.
It is the leading charity in its field, funding world-class research, providing support and information whilst also raising awareness of brain tumours. It is dedicated to beating this disease, which is the biggest cancer killer of people under 40 in the UK.

Any and all donations would be greatly appreciated ☺️
