Quin is a 6 year old boy who was born with a rare condition called microcephaly. As a result of having this condition he has severe developmental delay and is unable to sit unaided, crawl or walk. Dynamic movement intervention is a therapy which can help towards him achieving some of these milestone. It’s a comprehensive intervention used by physical and occupational therapists to treat children with gross motor impairment’s. It is used to help a child reach key milestones such as sitting upright, standing, or walking. This therapy is not available on the NHS, and not available in Northern Ireland. It is available privately in Dublin and Quin is scheduled for a full week of intense therapy which will be continued at home and then reassessed for further therapy.
