Home of Cricket Walk in memory of Malcolm Brown
Donation protected
Over two days on 28/29th July, 20 members of Takeley Cricket Club will be walking the 45 miles from the Home of Cricket at Takeley, to the Home of Cricket at Lord’s in memory of our friend, player, club secretary and dedicated scorer Malcolm Brown, who died in the summer of 2018 after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
We are looking to raise funds for two causes, with donations being split 50/50 between them.
· For St Clare Hospice who looked after Malcolm during his final months.
· To help build a lasting memorial to Malcolm at our home ground. An electronic scoreboard that Malc would have loved to have played with every Saturday afternoon!
Malcolm was at the heart of everything we did as a club, and it is no exaggeration to say he was the nicest, most generous person you could ever wish to meet. We miss his presence on match days as scorer, as last minute 11th man, reliable wicket keeper, and bowler of the slowest off-spin you could ever wish to see. His work behind the scenes as club secretary was priceless and amongst the vast amount of work he did for us, we will always be grateful to him for ensuring the long term future of our club when securing a long term lease for our ground in 2016.
So, later than we originally planned, we’re walking from The Home of Cricket in Takeley to The Home of Cricket at Lord’s in Malcolm’s memory. This is just the kind of event that Malcolm would have loved to have been part of and he would have conjured up many plans for us along the way to create an energy and buzz around the event that would make it truly memorable. We’ll just make do with sharing our stories of him - which will be a complete joy.
Please support in any way you can, every contribution will be a massive help and greatly appreciated.
Go well.
