Walk for IDPs all over Myanmar
Donation protected
We, members of the Karen Community Association- UK, are raising funds for IDPs all over Myanmar. Since the Coup back on 1st February 2021, many people inside Burma (Myanmar) have had to leave their livelihoods, houses and belongings because of SAC troops torching their houses/villages, looting their belongings and killing their loved ones indiscriminately. There were over 300,000 IDPs prior to the military coup, but this number has increased since February 2021.
According to UNHCR data, there are over 800,000 people all over the country being displaced. These people have been supported mainly by Myanmar ex-pats, and only a tiny amount has come from international humanitarian aid. However, we, the ex-pats, are finding ways and means to raise funds to support them. The general needs of our people are so much as the situation in Burma gets worse as time drags on.
As the weather in the UK gets better now, we, the members of the Karen Community Association in the UK, have decided to do another charity fun walk to raise funds for our internally displaced people.
Therefore, we strongly urge people here to show their support and solidarity by contributing generously to this benevolent cause. You could also write to your respective MPs to urge the British Government to recognise the National Unity Government as the legitimate government that represents the majority of the people of Myanmar, also highlighting the fact about sending humanitarian aid to the people of Myanmar through the National Unity Government and local NGOs that are working on the ground there. We are grateful and truly appreciate your moral and financial help and support!
