Hello all! Just over a year ago, I felt led to tell my story of how I’ve had to persevere through a lot of life’s challenges. Growing up as a child and being on our family farm, I always had aspirations of one day owning and operating the family farm that’s been in our family since 1866. Also, in 1991, I was able to fulfill a dream of being a career firefighter by joining the Bedford County Fire Department.
However, in 1998, God had a different plan. At that time, I was diagnosed with a somewhat rare condition of retinitis pigmentosa, which forced me into giving up my career as a firefighter. In 2009, I was deemed legally blind.
In 2018, I was there when my mom and dad were struck by a vehicle. It killed my mom and almost took my dad. This is when I was not sure if I was going to be able to fulfill the dream of owning our family farm.
Then, later that same year in 2018, God took adversity to another level. I was introduced to the Star Center, as well as Tennessee AgrAbility. These programs opened a whole new world to me. I was able to make contact and discover a lot of new assistive technologies that could help me operate the farm while still being legally blind!
So I created this documentary to share my story on how I was able to persevere through the love and faith of God. With the help of this GoFundMe account, since I had to pay for this project out-of-pocket, I am in hopes to gain some revenue to absorb some of the cost of the project. If and when I meet and exceed my goal, my plan is to donate the proceeds to the Star Center, a nonprofit organization that is an intricate part in helping me continue my dream.
