Walk 50km in August in memory of Tony Panton
Donation protected
Hello, for the month of August the staff and residents of Archersrath nursing home in Kilkenny, will be walking in memory of our staff nurse Ann-Marie's late husband Tony Panton. Please join or support us in walking 50km in August with all proceeds going to the Alzheimer Society of Ireland.
The Alzheimer Society of Ireland is the leading dementia specific service provider in Ireland. The Alzheimer Society of Ireland works across the country in the heart of local communities providing dementia specific services and supports and advocating for the rights and needs of all people living with dementia and their carers.
55,000 people in Ireland are living with dementia
Half a million of us have had a family member with dementia
Each year over 4,000 people develop dementia
That’s at least 11 people everyday
Mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, husbands, wives, neighbours and friends
1 in 2 people in Ireland know someone who has been diagnosed with dementia
But only 1 in 4 say they have a good understanding of dementia
Anyone can get dementia - even people in their 30s/40s/50s
1 in 10 people diagnosed with dementia in Ireland are under 65
The number of people with dementia in Ireland is expected to more than double over the next 20 years, from 55,000 today to 113,000 in 2036
Two thirds of people living with dementia in Ireland are women
Over 180,000 people in Ireland are currently or have been carers for a family member or partner with dementia with many more providing support and care in other ways
Please support this truly fantastic charity in all their hard work for the people living with dementia and Alzheimer's in Ireland
