A PDC for pioneers, refugees and farmers

Hi, I am Steve Jones, and I have been teaching permaculture design to forward-thinking, curious people from all sectors of society since 2005. Be they students, farmers, teachers, community leaders, or just interested in the subject of permaculture. S39 is based n Wales, but since 2014 has been sharing this work with pioneers in Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda via the Wales for Africa program. Something which has been a transformational experience for all concerned.

Our next course is spread over 24 weeks and commences in January; we are offering places to African participants as well as the UK; however, these international places will need to be subsidised and help needed with data and travel costs.

Support for this appeal will allow up to 20 African participants to complete this course remotely within their homes. We know from experience that this can set in motion a chain of events which can, in turn, transform whole communities.

Your support also really helps Sector39 to plan and deliver a high-quality course. S39 exists to bring permaculture to new audiences worldwide; the Wales-based training enterprise was founded in 2014 expressly for this purpose.

The course will be based at Treflach farm, in the Welsh borders, where S39 has been teaching on and off since 2010. Among other projects, we run long-term soil-building experiments, are building a community local food hub and connecting with activities across the farm. Sessions will be broadcast over Zoom for each weekly session. Participants will have the opportunity to visit the farm or one of our training partners in East Africa.
