Waldo County Pet Food Pantry
Donation protected
Did you know? Waldo County has well over 10,000 pets.
This program is sponsored by Randall and Collins Post 3108 Veterans of Foreign Wars in Belfast, Maine.
Since this programs beginning in Dec of 2013, we have discovered that a great deal of our recipients are searching for more affordable care and options for their animals. With some of the recipients being Veterans and Active Duty Military, with fixed incomes, we are finding that many of these people have to give up their beloved pets when they fall onhard times. This happens with not just cats and dogs. But with bunnies, birds livestock and exotic pets too! This puts an unusual strain on area shelters as they are already taking in strays and abandoned animals. Few boarding facilities are available and they are quite costly for extended stays.
Our hope is to assist in keeping as many beloved pets at home as possible.
