Walcott family home lost during Hurricane Ida

Friends of Rhein Haus in Seattle know and love our general manager Jeremy Walcott, who has been leading the restaurant since we opened in 2013. Our Weimann Maclise restaurant family is now coming together to help raise money for Jeremy’s family in Houma, Louisiana who lost their home and all their possessions during Hurricane Ida.

On Wednesday, August 25th Jeremy flew home to Houma to help his mom, who was hospitalized with Covid-19. Luckily she was fully vaccinated and was released and had begun to improve, when unfortunately his 86-year-old grandma was rushed to the hospital for complications with Covid-19.

Meanwhile, Hurricane Ida was nearing landfall and Jeremy helped evacuate his family to Spring, Texas where they remain in a hotel. His grandma was being treated at the local Houma hospital that was badly damaged by the hurricane, but at this time is luckily doing ok and has been evacuated to a bigger regional hospital where she is continuing to receive care.

Jeremy’s mom’s house where she lives and takes care of his grandmother, his niece (7), and his nephews (5 & 21) has been destroyed by wind and water damage. The family plans to temporarily relocate to Baton Rouge to be closer to his sister, who is also currently evacuated with her four kids to the same hotel in Texas. Jeremy’s nephew Kevon is planning to move to the Seattle area this month when Jeremy returns home.

Funds from this gofundme will be used by Jeremy to help secure safe shelter for the Walcott family; pay for rent, gas and food; and replace clothing and school supplies for his niece (7) and nephew (5) lost in the hurricane.
