Help send our team to the Catalina Crossing! Our canoe club, Hui Wa'a O Wakinikona, is sending our first team to compete down in California, paddle the 26+ mile crossing from Newport Beach to Catalina Island on September 6, 2025.

Help us make this possible! All proceeds will go towards supporting travel, registration, & chase boat costs for the team.

Our team has been working through a training plan, and are confident that we can represent Seattle and our lahui in Southern California! However, the cost of racing at can be significant and we especially want to ensure that cost is not a barrier to participation for our racers. On top of race registration ($900 fee + insurance costs), escort boat costs (est. $800), and canoe rental and shipping fees (Est. $800), we will need help covering our travel expenses from Washington to Newport Beach, rental vans and housing. We will also be paying for team uniforms, and the necessary supplies to sustain us when we cross the channel. These expenses add up quickly, so we welcome any support that our community can provide to help us make Seattle proud!
