Help Wakefield Athletic U11s Go the Extra Mile (Literally!)

Hi everyone!

We’re the Wakefield Athletic U11s – a passionate bunch of football-mad kids with big dreams, muddy boots, and one mission: to kick off the 2025/26 season looking and feeling like a team.

But here’s the thing – Yorkshire weather doesn’t care about our dreams. It rains. A lot. And while our team spirit never wavers, our training kits and jackets definitely have.

So we’ve set ourselves a challenge: run, jog, walk (or crawl, if needed) our way through summer by taking part in the Thornes Parkrun 2km every Sunday. That’s right – while most kids are sleeping in, we’ll be clocking up the kilometers with muddy trainers and determined faces.

Our goal?

• Run the equivalent of a marathon (42.2km) collectively

• Some of us are even aiming to do it individually (yes – you read that right!)

• And most importantly, raise enough to buy new rain jackets and training kits to keep us warm, dry, and proud as we represent Wakefield Athletic

We’re not asking for Premier League wages – just a little help from kind supporters who believe in grassroots sport, teamwork, and kids who are willing to go the distance (literally).

Every penny helps us look like a team, train like a team, and grow as a team. If you’ve ever stood in sideways rain on a cold sideline – you’ll know how much those jackets mean!
