My name is Mrs. Lorraine Wyatt,

I am the mother of three sons:
Matthew, Corey, and Elijah.



I am lovingly known as Mimi to my wonderful grandchildren Anastazja,  Alazjah and Isaiah.


Humbly  I am requesting  your help on behalf of my son Matthew Burks. 

Who is currently on a ventilator with a trach and feeding tube in place.  

On July 3rd Matthew collapsed at home after working a long nightshift. 

Thankfully his significant other Athena Jackson was home along with their 2 little girls.  Athena was able to call me and 911, and they had Athena initiate CPR while she awaited the arrival of the paramedics. 

Unfortunately her baby girls which I could hear crying over the phone were there to also witness the horrific scene.  Their 4 year old recounting how her fathers lips and fingers turned blue. 


The paramedics worked diligently as I was speeding through the streets to get to them.  Athena had video called me and I could see my oldest son part way on his knees and his face on the floor. 

I arrived at their apartment to see the paramedics pulling off.  Athena informing me that a contraption was placed on Matthew to continue compressions as they transported him to Akron General.  

I ran into the apartment to collect Athena and my granddaughters so we could follow.  

We got there in record time and was ushered into a family room where we waited for an eternity to find out if my son was alive. 


It took them 30 more minutes upon arrival before they got a pulse.  It is because of this prolonged time with no oxygen he has suffered a brain injury. 

Now we are 27 days into this journey and relying on God for a miracle to wake Matthew up. 

I pray daily for him and over him.  We're all trusting and believing in our faith that God hears our prayers to touch him and restore him. 

Athena has been caring tirelessly for their2 little girls that Matthew has been a wonderful provider for that have not been able to see their father since July 3rd.  

Please keep our family in your prayers.  Matthew's siblings miss him so. 




I have a great group of people who take turns going to Select hospital daily to make sure Matthew is cared for,  comforted,  groomed,  prayed over. 



I thank every minister that has laid hands on him and prayed for him since he was at the AGMC. 

We welcome anything that you can provide,  no gift is too small.

• Athena is not working at this time as during this tragedy,  her mother passed away unexpectedly.  

Thank you for all the support.  We appreciate you all from the bottom of your hearts. 

Every bit matters!  I've moved Athena and the girls out of their apartment and into the home of my husband and I. 

Matthew has touched so many lives with his great sense of humor and funny personality.  We are all prepared to do whatever is needed to care for him. 

I go to the hospital daily and make sure his face is cleaned.  Having a trach and peg tube in place now.  But he tends to drool and staff can't be there every second.  So I come and suction his mouth.  Make sure his lips don't get too dry.  I give him a bed bath and do range of motion of his limbs.  I tuck him in every night before visiting hours are over at 8pm.

We believe God is able and in control of this entire situation.  So while we pray without ceasing for all to witness the miracle of Matthew we pray everyday......
