My name is Dasha, I am a documentary film director. In the summer of 2023 I went to Munich to St.Hiob's Orthodox male monastery to film my graduation film. When going there, my aim was to explore religious isolation and approach to existential question of people that live in it.

Me and the Director of Photography, Rahul, spent two weeks together with the monks following their daily routines and having conversations. A film that started off as an observational documentary with a distance between us and the protagonists became a very intimate and emotional experience. The feature film gives an extensive insight on our journey in the monastery and shows what lies behind the monastic routines, explores the personalities of Father Meliton, the oldest monk, and Father Korniliy.

Летом 2023 года мы с моим оператором Раулем поехали монастырь Преподобного Иовы Почаевского в Мюнхене снимать выпускной фильм, чтобы ответить на вопросы о религиозной изоляции и выборе жизни в монастыре.

Мы провели две недели вместе с монахами, сопровождая их в ежедневной рутине и беседуя о жизни. Фильм, который начинался как наблюдение с огромной дистанцией между нами и героями, превратился в совместно прожитый духовный и эмоциональный опыт. Полнометражная версия фильма раскрывает, что находится за рясами и однообразной изо дня в день работы, мы сближаемся с Отцом Корниием, главой монастырского пиара и самым молодым монахом, и Отцом Мелитоном, прожившим в стенах монастыря больше тридцати лет.

Right now I am finding myself in the process of post-production and I am looking for funding to cover the editing, colour-grading and sound-design expenses along with some production expenses I had during the shoot. The rough cut of the film I did myself at the moment is around 50 minutes and I am planning on applying to various festivals with it. The visual and audial parts of the film are crucially important as they provide the immersion in the mediative state of the life in the monastery and I am working with the industry professionals on that.

На данный момент я нахожусь на стадии монтажа и финальной работы над проектом и ищу средства, покрывающие пост-продакшн (звуковой дизайн и цветокоррекцию), часть расходов со съемок и фестивали. Пост-продакшн — это элемент чуть ли не важнее самих съёмок, ведь от качества звука и картинки зависит не только фестивальная судьба проекта, но и то, как фильм воспринимается зрителем, какой опыт создается.

The planned breakdown of the requested sum is:

1000€ production on-site, travel expenses (производственные затраты, поездка)

500€ editing with a professional editor (монтаж с профессиональным монтажером)

500€ sound design and mixing (звуковой дизайн)

500€ colour grading (цветокоррекция)

All the additional funding will go on festival applications. No ruffles or returns on investment offered in exchange for donation.

Все дополнительные средства пойдут на фестивали.
