Waitabu Village Farm Relief

Donation protected
This is a fundraiser organized by Regina Olivares for the community of Waitabu Village. Charlotte Tikoinamata a local and a friend, reached out to me asking for support. Donations will be transferred to Charlotte's Western Union bank for the community.

Fiji was hit by two cyclones Yasa and Ana in a row causing mass destruction.
The yaqona, casava and dalo (taro) farms on Waitabu Village located on Taveuni Island, Fiji were left in ruins. First the village was hit by Cyclone Yasa, the strongest tropical cyclone since Winston 2016. Then they were surprised with Cyclone Ana this year. As families try to get back up on their feet, they are met with the wreckage of their crops and farmlands.

Yaqona, casava and dalo are the main source of income for those living on this island. They are products cultivated on the island and are also sold and consumed locally and worldwide. The cyclones have destroyed farmland and left locals of Waitabu Village devastated and without a livelihood. They are running out of food.

Besides farming yaqona, casava, and dalo, the village and marine park have graciously hosted students and tourists for years. This community who kindly took us in as a part of their own family is asking for our support.

Any donation, no matter how small is appreciated and will be used for food and reconstruction of farmland.
