In 2016 Douglas Wagstaff, my father, defeated Thyroid cancer. Despite being told by numerous doctors at various facilities that he was cancer free, today we’re faced with a new cancer. Mid February Doug was hospitalized with life threatening conditions from Influenza A and walked out diagnosed with a 10cm tumor in his liver, which is very large. The severity of his situation is still unknown. Right now we are unsure of the type of cancer he has. It is very likely that it started in his biles or intestines according to preliminary tests. We will know more when he receives a PET scan within the next few weeks. He is seeing the oncologists at UPMC’s Hillman’s Cancer Treatment Center this Wednesday 3/18/2020.
As a healthcare worker, Doug is currently on restricted work because of COVID-19 and Flu season and is missing a lot of pay.
