Wadokai World Karate Championships - 5 Young Athletes

Hi everyone,

My name is Simon and I'm the owner of Simon Coope Karate School. We are a traditional Wado Ryu karate club based in Leicestershire, but we also have a large competitive community within our school.

I am immensely proud to announce that five of our young members have been selected to join Wadokai England in representing our country at the Wadokai World Karate Championships that are being held in Tokyo, Japan this coming August.

Unfortunately, as a club we are unable to fund this expensive trip for our athletes and are seeking help from the sporting and martial arts community to support our students in a once in a lifetime opportunity to represent our country.

In honour of this cause, I, Simon Coope, a 60-year-old-man, will be facing my biggest fear (heights!) and will be partaking in a tandem skydive jump. When I initially agreed to this idea at the start of 2024, I weighed 20 stone and knew that I was ineligible to do this. I have since, however, last 3.5stone (and counting...) and must live up to my promise.

So, I'm asking you, if you can please help donate to support these incredible young martial artists to get to Japan and represent our country at the 2025 Wadokai World Cup - and to watch me scream for approximately 2 minutes as I jump from a perfectly good aeroplane.
