My name is Heather and I am a single mother of two amazing boys. We have taken in Titus, English mastiff pup 5 months, into our home whom we love and adore. On Thursday 11/12/2015 Titus starting acting very strange and he stopped drinking water. By the way, I work as nurse, and we have pretty good assessment skills:) So, Thursday...That evening I called the humane society, our vet, and told them Titus symptoms. They told me to go to the emergency vet. I used my last 69$ to be seen, he knew I didn't have the money so I was advised to use tramadol to support Titus with pain. Next day, I went to our vet and had him assessed, we thought he had a bowel obstruction because of his history of eating my boys socks. He had x-rays and IV hydration for the day. I took him home and watched him closely, he was declining quickly. The next day he went back for a recheck, another x-ray to see if this possible textile object was moving. It had not, in fact there was an area of concern. Upper abdomen. I requested they call in the Ultrasound radiologist and get a real diagnosis. This is when she saw plural effusion. He then had a chest x-ray displaying a foreign body in Titus’ lung. It has encapsulated and now requires a lobectomy. I also have the option of treating him with broad spectrum antibiotics and see how it goes, I am doing this now. Right now, my focus is him. He is our family and I can't let my boys down to not try everything to help our little guy. This surgery could cost me more than $5000, and I have exhausted all my means. We need you now! He is declining quickly!
Thank you for taking the time today to read our story and I hope you have the most wonderful day.
With lots of love and Happy Holidays,
Heather, Donovan, Logan, Bella and our Titus.
PS: Any money left over I pledge to donate to the Humane Society, they need an ultrasound machine
