Kevin R Ebbert Memorial Highway
Donation protected
Kevin R. Ebbert, a Navy SEAL, was killed in action on November 24, 2012, in Afghanistan. Kevin was born January, 1980, and grew up in Arcata, CA. As a boy he loved backpacking, rafting, drawing and the outdoors. As a young adult he was an accomplished musician, loved learning and was an avid reader throughout his life. Kevin grew into a caring man who practiced his values, lived by his ideals and was committed to helping others.

Kevin graduated from Arcata High School, received a bachelor’s degree in music from UC Santa Cruz and enlisted in the Navy becoming an active duty Navy SEAL and corpsman. He planned to build on his training as a medic to pursue a career as a physician.
On July 7, 2015, the California State Assembly and Senate approved a Resolution dedicating a portion of Hwy 101 in Arcata to Kevin in honor of his contributions as a Navy SEAL and acknowledging his dedication to his values and integrity.
Many family and friends across the country have asked how they may contribute. This is how.
The cost of the highway sign is $5500 and must be paid prior to ordering the signs. This amount must be paid with private funds since no tax dollars may be used. We hope to raise $6000 to cover the sign and fees. Any funds not used to pay for the sign will be used for the dedication ceremony and donated to the Kevin Ebbert Memorial Fund.
Charlie, Kevin's mom, will withdraw the funds and write the check for the sign to the State of California as indicated by the local CalTrans office doing the work. If there is more money than needed for the highway memorial signs, those funds will be deposited in the Kevin Ebbert Memorial Fund held by the Humboldt Area Foundation.

We are grateful for each and every supportive comment and donation. Your thoughtfulness, sharing and generous attention to our emotional fragility has been a tremendous help to us during the past three years.
Thank you.
