Hi everyone,

It has truly been a scary week. Last week on May 29, Friday our darling 4 year old corgi Yuki was acting off. He didn't want to play ball and wasn't excited for cookies. The following day he was vomitting and was so lethargic and walking at a slow pace. We thought he had ate something to upset his stomach. So on early Sunday morning when we saw he was still listless we brought him to the vet emergency. The doctor said he really did look lethargic so it's best they did some tests and keep him over night.

Little did we know how severe it was.


That very day we got a call from the doctor that Yuki was suffering from severe kidney failure. 

With the level results of the following:
BUN levels was 148 (Normal level is 9-25)
Creatinine was 9.2 (Normal level is 1.5)

The doctor told us Yuki had a 50/50 chance, and at this time the only treatment they could do is provide him fluid therapy and antibiotics etc. and hope he recovers.

We were utterly shocked and distraught.

However, I am happy to report that Yuki has fought well. And after 5 nights in the hospital he has managed to bring his BUN and Creatinine levels to normal.

We still have a lot to go. As we must monitor him at home and see if he can continue to recover properly at home and that his kidney's will not potentially fail again. There are also still on going tests to figure out what could have caused this in such a young pup. (Infectious disease? Poisoning?)

That being said, we did not cover Yuki with pet insurance. As I honestly was only considering getting pet insurance once Yuki was older. We now have registered for pet insurance, but it will not take into affect until June 16th.

Therefore any assistance you could provide with our current bills would forever be appreciated.
