On December 3rd last year WA Fisheries Minister Jackie Jarvis announced the permanent closure of commercial fishing on the West Coast of Western Australia with implementation taking place on the 1st of January giving the fishermen only 3 weeks notice over Christmas.

Its now the 3rd of May and despite loss of income and a forced closure of the fishing industry the fishermen like us havnt been paid a single cent and are being offered very poor compensation and forced to take it.

As a result of this closure fish prices have sky rocketed and fresh local WA fish has just about disappeared in the market place and many people in Western Australia are angry, even still after nearly 6 months.

Many of our customers, family, friends, social media followers and other fishermen around Australia have suggested we set up this go fund me in an attempt to raise funds to engage the best legal team in the land and get some justice for all commercial fishermen and the public who want and enjoy fresh local seafood.

We want heads to roll over this unfair, unjust and unAustralian “Captains Call” by the WA Fisheries Minister and we want the ban reversed and commercial fishing reinstated immediately to the way it was before until the correct science can prove beyond reasonable doubt that this ban was needed to protect fish stocks and not just politically driven.

Since December 3rd many people have asked how they can help and now we have the answer. Please contribute a donation no matter how big or small so we can make history. We can’t do this alone especially with how much this ban which blindsided us has affected our business.
