We want to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude for your generous donations and unwavering support for Charles during this incredibly challenging time. Your kindness and compassion mean the world to him and to all of us standing by his side.
As many of you know, Charles’ road to recovery has been anything but easy. On Wednesday night, he spiked a fever, adding another layer of concern, though we are thankful the doctors were able to bring it under control. On Thursday, he underwent surgery to repair his arm, which was a significant step forward, but recovery has come with its share of hurdles.
After surgery, Charles struggled with low oxygen levels due to broken ribs, making it difficult for him to take deep breaths. He was placed on oxygen, and the team has been carefully working to wean him off. However, just as we were making progress, his lung collapsed, and he now has a chest tube to assist his breathing. Despite these setbacks, Charles has shown incredible resilience and determination. Even in pain, he has found moments of rest, giving us hope and reassurance of his strength.
This journey is far from over, and the challenges ahead are significant. The financial support provided by your donations is helping to ease the burden and ensure Charles has access to the care he needs to heal. We kindly ask you to continue sharing his story with your networks. Spreading the word will not only extend his circle of support but will also inspire others with his courage and determination.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being part of Charles’ journey. Together, we’re giving him the strength to face each new day with hope.

My name is Tammy Bednar, and I am a Principal for a program that serves students with special needs where Charles works as an Educational Assistant Specialist.
We are heartbroken to share that Charles was involved in a serious head-on collision on Friday, November 22nd. He is currently in serious but stable condition at HCMC, and while he has a long road to recovery, we remain hopeful and know that Charles' strength and determination will carry him through.
As of now, Charles is facing multiple injuries: a fractured right arm, broken sternum and ribs, broken toes on his left foot, and multiple fractures in his sacrum. On Saturday, November 23rd, he underwent laparoscopic surgery to address a hematoma in his abdomen. Thankfully, no active bleeding was found, and his colon is in good condition. Next, Charles will need surgery on his sacrum, which is scheduled for Thursday, November 28th. His left leg is in traction to help align his sacrum before the surgery. Then, on Friday, November 29th, he will undergo surgery to repair his humerus fracture.
Charles is unable to get out of bed and must remain flat for the time being, but we are grateful that he is stable and surrounded by love and support. Despite the challenges ahead, we know that Charles is a fighter and will give everything he has to recover.
As many of you know, Charles works with special education students, a role he is deeply passionate about. Unfortunately, given the severity of his injuries, he will be unable to return to work for some time. The physical and emotional toll of recovery will be significant, and the financial strain is already beginning to mount.
Charles is a fighter, and we believe in his strength to overcome this. But he cannot do it alone. Your support, whether through donations or simply sharing this message, will make all the difference in his recovery.
We will continue to update this page with his progress. Thank you for your love, your prayers, and your generosity during this difficult time. Together, we can help Charles heal and return to the work he loves.
