Steve has always been a very hard-working, family-oriented, and driven man. For the last 45 years, Steve has been a proud owner of his Hardware Store, handed down from his father, in our small hometown Bancroft, Iowa.

This past Spring 2022, Steve began experiencing severe back pain, making work and daily life activities difficult and painful. After several rounds of testing, it was determined that Steve had a tumor applying pressure to his thoracic spinal area, causing fractures. Upon further testing, Steve was diagnosed with Stage IV - Metastatic Renal Cell Carcinoma, as cancer has spread to various regions of his body. Steve has already battled several unpleasant side effects from the chemo regime he is currently prescribed. Despite these side effects, including severe pain, spasms, poor appetite, mouth sores/pain making it excruciating to eat or drink, and extreme fatigue, Steve continues to work hard every day to keep his business doors open for the community.

If you know Steve, you know he is an incredible husband and provider to his wife, Carol. In addition, he is the best father to his four children, Nikki (38), Dana (36), Scott (34), and Stacey (33). Steve is a Papa (the best Papa in the world) to 8 grandchildren. He is a brother and a friend to SO many.

As our family tries to navigate and absorb this new reality, we are looking to rally his loved ones to support him through this long road of fighting. Any amount contributed to lessening the financial burden is appreciated beyond words.

All proceeds from this fundraiser will go to Steve & Carol. They will use the funds donated to help fund gas used to travel to appointments, cover chemo medication costs (those not covered by insurance), and any other unexpected bills/expenses.
