Hey! My name is Kaila. I'm fundraising for my father Brett.

So as of December 2024 just days before Christmas Brett was at his best mates place working on their Utes for their upcoming camping trip! when he suddenly went down really hard with what we thought was a heart attack, it happened so quickly we wasn't sure if he would survive.. thankfully he pulled through. But he wasn't the same.

My father is a VERY outdoors person! He has been a truck driver for his entire life! since the time i can remember he has always loved fishing, camping, working on his cars and much more! I follow him every time he goes camping, its always the best time! But after this scare he's not been the same and we wanted to try and help him!

We found out a couple weeks later that he had a attack. VT (ventricular tachycardia). The definition of VT is this.

"A dangerous heart rhythm where the heart's lower chambers (ventricles) beat too fast, often between 120 and 300 beats per minute. This can lead to symptoms like dizziness, chest pain, shortness of breath, and fainting

We where worried it would impact his everyday life and started searching for answers on ways to bring him back.

no matter what treatment or advice we could get nothing seemed to be working, this hardworking dedicated man was slowly withering away to nothing.. Until a doctor found something.

a couple of months later my father went to his normal doctors appointment with an idea. He had done a lot of research on this and it turned out he was dead on the money! My father wasn't just suffering from VT on top of all of that he also found out that he indeed did have something else wrong with him.

A sliding hiatal hernia this was foreign to all of us.. but as we dug deeper we finally found out that the symptoms he was having where spot on in line with this description stuff like major heartburn, bloating. chest pain and shortness of breath, BUT it didn't stop there.. due to this hernia and the VT so close together it is causing his heart to work in overdrive. The SHH was putting pressure on his heart. These constant heart problems everyday that makes him unable to do any physical activity for more then a few minutes before he needs to lay down and rest, that then stops him for days at a time. For someone who was active 24/7 this is a miserable life. He was bed ridden for days on end, not being able to get up due to constant bloating or his honest words "feeling like he's dying"

But! there is a solution to this, but unfortunately its a little bit out of our reach. He is able to go in for surgery to get this sliding hiatal hernia fixed and we do hope that once that is completed he can finally get back on his feet and start living again! We have already started making plans and ideas for our first fishing trip back, its one way to keep his spirits high! and i am trying everything i can to keep it that way, My dad is my hero and he has so much more life to live.

This is the last place we wanted to have to be at but when times get difficult sometimes people just need a little help <3

Sorry for rambling but its my way of showing how much i love my father and am willing to put everything on the line to make sure he makes a speedy recovery!
