Help! Help! Help!
The Problem: Our basic utilities to keep us warm, the lights on, and being connected to other by telephone are about to be cut off!
The Goal: We need $8,200 right now just to pay what is needed to avoid losing our basic utilities - our propane for heat, our electricity, and our telephone - and very soon - by April 30th at the latest.
How Soon: GoFundMe allows transfers to non-profits only once a month about the 25th of each month. That is just a week away from today. An immediate response is needed right now!
The Back Story: A terrible wind and rain storm ripped through our monastery valley last July where the monks of St. Isaac's Skete of Holy Orthodox Mission live.
The Roof Section That Dropped on the Propane Tank
It was devastating, blowing part of the roof off of one building which landed on a propane tank, and five trees fell on another building completely destroying it. It also caused a power failure for many days, and much other damage.
The Downed Trees in the Monastery Driveway
Thanks be to God that no one was hurt!
Because of a seven week time delay to do the repairs and the removal of the damages and the downed trees with just in house help, since last July our cash flow has been greatly stretched in our self supporting small monastery. This has compounded now, especially over the winter with increased utility bills, which were not paid on time, especially our propane which is the fuel that heats the buildings here in the front valley where the monks presently live.
Where We Are Today: Our propane this morning is at just 22% in our main propane tank and it will be gone in less than two weeks! We live in S.W. Wisconsin and we had a snow storm here a few days ago, and a larger one is coming down just now. It is already over six inches deep. It is cold outside at night and will be for some time still. Spring is really slow coming this year.
Snowstorms at the Monastery
Why It Is Important: The monks here at St. Isaac's Skete have one main job: we pray for all those in distress or need, and for the whole world each day. The world needs constant prayer for help for everyone in our challenging times. This is our main work - to help others through prayer. Help us continue to help others by your immediate generous support and prayers.
Help us today! Even small donations will add up now to help the monks keep warm and keep the lights on. If you can, give more. It is hard for us to ask for help, but we are in great need just now.
God bless you for your generosity.
