BROTHER IN NEED

This GoFundMe is in regards to my amazing brother Randy Bray, who many of you know and if you don’t, well… let's just say he’s one of a kind, set apart and extremely special to so many people. With that being said though unfortunately he has been dealing with some major health issues over the last few months.  In August he was diagnosed with a staghorn kidney stone that could only be removed by surgery, but because of its size the physicians and surgeon knew they would need to go in twice.

The first surgery went fine, but Randy was injured internally during the second surgery. He was discharged before they knew of the injury. He was admitted back into the hospital due to passing two liters of blood. He was then hospitalized for three days.

He returned to work the following week, and the following weekend he drove to Massachusetts for Columbus Day. During the drive he developed a fever. When he arrived here he slept for 24 hours and then was admitted again to the hospital with sepsis and a fever of 104.

He remained in the hospital for 5 days.  When he was discharged he needed to drive back to Ohio, because prior to his surgery, he had agreed to move into a house owned by Avery and Aria's uncle (Randy's grandchildren), and he had to be moved in by November 1st so he drove the 9 hours back to Ohio where he was scheduled for a third surgery. (The stone had been reduced, but was not gone.)

The third surgery was performed last Friday 11/13/20, and Randy was once again admitted to the hospital after the surgery was complete. He was released this past Saturday with a port in his side; a fourth surgery is scheduled December 2, 2020. Hopefully it will be the last.

While in the hospital here in Massachusetts his notice to vacate was sent out but to the wrong address and because the property managers did not receive it they are asking for an additional month’s rent, which is very stressful since he is already struggling financially since being out of work for so long due to the surgeries and hospital admissions.

To say he has had a rough couple months would be an understatement. My brother has worked so hard to be where he is today. He graduated law school a few years ago and about a year ago landed a great opportunity to work for one of the counties in his area.  But because of not working he has had to exhaust all of  his short term disability, his credit lines and any paid time off he had accumulated this last year. He has now found himself in a position where he is thousands of dollars in debt because of illness, has no money for bills or everyday necessities. We are however very grateful for his health insurance, as a majority of the health costs were covered, but not all. He did return to work this past Monday (11/16/20) with a tube in his kidney just to make sure he gets some sort of financial income in December.

I know he wouldn't want to ask for help but I know that Randy is the kind of man who would give the shirt off his back if he knew it would keep you warm.  He took me in as a teen when I was at my lowest point and sacrificed his own freedom to care for a stubborn, defiant teenager… God knows I wasn’t easy. But he did it because that is just the kind of man he is.  At 33 I can tell you that he has been more than a brother to me, he is a hero and he is my friend. I would not be the person I am today if he did not play the role that he did in my life.

I am asking that if anyone can donate towards him getting back on his feet that you please do it here and if you pray I ask that you pray fervently for quick healing and for a financial miracle. If I could help him fully I would without any hesitation but unfortunately its just not possible.

If we are able to get him back to ground zero that would mean he could come home to his family here in Massachusetts for Christmas which is a time we all cherish since our mom suffered an aneurysm a few days before Christmas years ago and then passed away a year later.  Having us all together is very important but not as important as him being healthy and back on his feet. We all just want to know that he is okay and steady.

Thank you very much for even taking the time to read this and if you are able to donate just know we will forever be grateful for you.
