My fight against Cancer

Hello, my name is Larry, I am a 47-year-old Marine Veteran and Correctional peace officer at Folsom State Prison. On May 26, 2019 we received a phone call that my wife’s mother (Rita Sr.) had a major heart attack. We stayed with Rita Sr. for one week till her last breath on June 2, 2019. During this time, I was experiencing abdominal issues, so I scheduled a GI-colonoscopy exam. Two days after my mother-law's memorial service, I received a phone call from the doctor stating that I have a rear case of Leukemia that is combined with ALL and AML. The ALL is a childhood Leukemia whereas AML is adulthood. I felt like the world just sat on my head. I cried so hard and loud in disbelief. I didn’t understand, ‘why me. ‘Since my diagnosis, I’ve had several biopsies done, CT scans, Ultrasounds and tremendous amount of lab work done. Results, I have an acute leukemia tumor in my small intestine that is closing off my intestine. At this juncture, I am admitted to the hospital for immediate chemotherapy for the next five days. Chemo really kicked my butt, I've been vomiting, loss my appetite, can't taste nothing and constant dreadful diarrhea. After my five day stay, I went to see my doctor for a follow up, more chemo treatments as outpatient patient and guest what, doctor tells me I have FLT3 +AML which means my cancer will come back so I will need a bone marrow transplant. This is done at Stanford Hospital which is 120 miles away from my home. My chemotherapy and Bone Marrow Transplant will take approximately a year and half of treatment. No work? I have fallen so deep into a whole emotionally, mentally drained and financially incapable of helping myself .
At this time, I am asking for my brothers and sisters to please help me with anything you can give. It would help with my medical expense, medications, insurance and my family. This is a very difficult moment for me to ask for any kind help being that I worked all my life and have served my country with honor, pride and integrity for the better part of my life never asking for anything in return. Please help me stand tall.
I like to thank each one of you for taking the time to read my story and appreciate any support you can give.
