Her first thought upon learning of her cancer was her 5-year old son, Joey. She will do anything it takes to be here to see her son grow up. The mere thought of losing her battle to cancer brings her to tears (as does the thought of the unavoidable loss of hair). Her family is very close knit and it is rare to find Jen without Joey or her husband, Billy.
Through all of this, Jen has no intention of taking a break from work. She has said it is not an option. She gets paid by the hour and they need the money. The new medical bills have already started pouring in, which they are responsible for until their high deductible is met. Unfortunately, such struggle is not new to this family. Her husband survived cancer at age 19 and is doing well today, but not without numerous other medical obstacles throughout the past 2 decades. It is hard to maintain, much less get ahead, financially when faced with so many difficulties. She recently told me that she is not sure how much longer she can continue working with the side effects from chemo, but doesn’t know how they will make it without her salary.
This page is to raise money in the hopes that it will allow Jen to pay her deductibles, reduce her hours at work as she recovers from chemo treatments, and help with bills after her surgery when she is unable to work. I hoping that as a community, we can raise enough money to at least alleviate financial burdens on this family so that Jen can pour all of her energy into healing.
No donation is too small. If you can’t afford a lot at the moment, just $5 will help. If everyone gives a little and shares with friends, it will add up to a lot and mean the world to Jen and her family.
