I met Kris almost nine years ago, and since that first day he has been a constant light in my life and has brightened even my darkest days. As most of you know Kris has Type one diabetes. He was diagnosed at the age of 17 and has lived with this disease for the last twenty years. Coming into this relationship I took his diabetes very lightly and had no idea how serious of a disease this really is. To say that I now know how serious and scary it is, is a complete understatement.
About six years ago Kris had a cut on the bottom of his foot that ended up turning into a diabetic ulcer. He had to have surgery on his foot. Since then he has developed Charcot foot, which is a condition that causes the bones in the foot to weaken immensely. The bones in Kris's foot have weakened so much that they are constantly being fractured. Of course working long hours waiting tables only makes this worse. Kris is now walking on his ankle. He has been given the ultimatum of undergoing reconstructive surgery on his foot or getting his foot amputated all the way up to the knee. As you can guess Kris would choose the reconstructive surgery over amputation every time.

This is where Kris, myself , and our families are forced to turn to you for help. Kris has no insurance and until now we have always tried to find a way to pay for all his Dr. appointments out of pocket. Something as big as recontructive surgery with no insurance is not something we can afford. Because of this I see Kris' light and lovable personality dulling with each day that passes. It is with deep hope and gratitude that I ask you to please help bring that light in Kris' eyes and help our family find joy again. Kris has worked to hard to take care of everyone he loves . I want nothing more than for him to have some hope for the future and experience a life without constant pain. Thankyou so much for taking the time to read our story and for any help you may be able to contribute.
