Yesterday, my dog Prince started limping, refused to leave his bed and stopped eating, peeing and pooping. Today I took him to the pet hospital with an appointment that was meant to check up on a skin infection he had, but instead we found out he has intervertebral disc disease (IVDD). This means that the discs in his spine are too close together, pinching a nerve in his spine, and essentially causing him to be paralyzed (from the waist down).

There are only 2 options for treatment and neither of them are guaranteed to make him better:

1) Laser treatment surgery EVERYDAY for the next couple of months (Around $1500/month, excluding exam/consultation fees)

OR

2) A $10,000 surgery that isn’t guaranteed to work because he’s considered a senior dog (he’s 11)

This news was very hard for me to hear because he has been with me since I was 15. He’s the first pet I’ve ever had and I can’t imagine a life where he isn’t at my feet, begging to eat what I’m eating. There is no possible way for me to acquire $10,000 for his surgery so my only option is the laser treatment procedure, which is going to add up. I’m currently a student with no support so this has been very hard on me financially.

Even if I do not reach the $10,000 goal for surgery, any proceeds will be used to help pay for his laser therapy treatments, diapers, anything else he needs.

I don’t ever do this sort of thing but if anyone would like to help I’d really appreciate it He is my whole world and I do not want to lose him.
