Hunter's Heart

Hello my name is Nicole and a good friend of mine Nikki and her husband Scott are expecting their first child at the end of this year. At their 18 week ultrasound they found out that their son Hunter has a heart defect. A couple of weeks later they went for a second scan of little Hunter's heart. The scan showed no signs of improvement. The following week Nikki and Scott met with a pediatric cardiologist. They did another scan and from what could be seen, he is missing the pulmonary artery. The aorta is doing the job of both, creating a hold between chambers in his heart and a tetralogy of flow. Once Hunter is born he will undergo his first surgery. The doctors are unsure how many surgeries he will need in the beginning. At most he will require three. When he is finally released from the children's hospital he will come home with pulsox machines and be on several meds. He will be followed by a cardiologist all his life. Unfortunetly, insurance will not cover all costs of the visits or surgeries. The high risk OB and all of Hunter's doctors are in Boston which is an hour drive from Nikki and Scott's home. The cost can be overwhelming. Any amount would be helpful and very appreciated. Nikki and Scott thank everyone in advance for helping out with Little Hunter's heart.
