Amanda’s Memorial Expenses

Donation protected

Early morning on May 22nd, 2020, Amanda took her last breaths. This time is really unthinkable for all of us. Her children, mother, brother and sister were all able to spend some moments with her before we had to say goodbye. Even in the end she was not alone, her hand was held and she was told she was loved so very much. We now will have to shift the purpose of this GoFundMe to supporting memorial funds for Amanda as well as continued care for supporting the kids during this time. We know Amanda was loved by many and we are all heartbroken to know she is no longer here with us, but in the end we had the blessing of knowing her and the amazing woman she was. If you are able to donate, every little bit will help and be greatly appreciated. Our family has so much gratitude for everyone reaching out and thinking of Amanda and our family these past two weeks, thank you all.

As many of you may know, Amanda Baker is fighting for her life right now. She is the strongest woman I’ve ever met. If you are reading this and know Amanda, then you certainly know how strong she is and being a fighter is right up her alley. From being a single mom of two beautiful children so young to having Lupus and constantly battling her own body, and the many challenges in between, she has always done her best and remained to be the amazing person she is. We are creating this Go Fund Me in hopes that family and friends who would like to contribute are able to. Between medical bills, rent, the kids and many other life costs, she will at one point or another need some extra help and support. Even if that support is nothing more than a prayer, it will be greatly appreciated. We as a family thank you all for the continued kindness and love that has been shown to Amanda and our family. I will update this Go Fund Me account as frequently as I can. The updates will be the same as those posted for everyone following on Facebook. The link for the Go Fund Me will also be shared on Facebook for those who want to share. Thank you all.

I’m sorry to inform all of our friends and family that Amanda Baker is fighting for her life right now. As many of you know, Amanda has Lupus. It was one of the hardest times in her life when she finally was diagnosed and since then it’s been a never ending battle. The last 3 days have now become the toughest battle she has ever fought. The doctors aren’t entirely sure why she is so sick, though her Lupus isn’t letting her get better. She is in organ failure and has pneumonia. She has been put into a medically induced coma and on a ventilator so her body can rest and reserve itself so she can keep fighting. As of early this morning, she was flown into a trauma center in Orlando to utilize their advanced technology in the hopes of keeping her alive and helping her recover. This is an unimaginable time for our family, especially her two kids. We are sharing this with everyone so our family and close friends can be aware of the situation and so prayers and positive thoughts can be sent her way. Due to COVID-19 no one is allowed in the hospital with her at all. We ask kindly that everyone PLEASE respect our privacy and DO NOT try to contact our immediate family. My mother and brother are especially distraught right now and cannot handle the extra stress of having to hear from others even though we know you all mean well and just want to send love. Please, if you absolutely need to reach out and contact someone directly you can contact me at [phone redacted]. We will keep updating this post as time goes on and learn more information. Please feel free to reach out through personal message to myself and write messages of prayer and positive thoughts, every message will be read aloud to the family each day and will be very much appreciated. This is all happening so fast and we are doing our best to stay strong and get through this together. Please keep Amanda in your prayers.

UPDATE: 05/12/2020 -
Thank you all for your prayers and kind words to Amanda and our family. We really appreciate everyone’s love, it is keeping us strong and helping us stick together through this. We are so grateful to now have the opportunity to be in Orlando closer to Amanda. As of today and moving forward one family member is allowed with her each day, needless to say she will not be physically alone any longer in this journey. We hope and pray that being by her side, feeling our presence, our touch and hearing our voices will help her fight even harder and bring her the comfort and strength she needs. Her condition is still very critical though as the doctor told us tonight, don’t count her out, she’s still fighting and doing her best to make it back to her kids. We love you all and thank you for the continued privacy and thoughtful messages that have been directed my way. I will continue to share them all with the family, they mean more to us and Amanda than you all could know.

UPDATE: 05/14/2020 -
Amanda is still fighting hard so please keep sending prayers of healing and strength. Today her overall health started to decline even more. She has persistent tachycardia, high fever, increased oxygen requirement (still fully dependent on the ventilator), and is being started on dialysis. Her clotting factors are still a mystery and the doctors are working to figure out why and what caused her to get this bad. She remains in a medically induced coma so she is not in pain and her body can rest in hopes of getting stronger. Each day either my brother or myself have spent the day with her talking and being there beside her during this fight. Today my mom was able to go in and spend some time with her for the first time since she has been admitted. The kids are being rightfully informed of their mothers condition and record messages for her each day so she can hear their voices, we all know they mean the most to her. We all are trying our best to stay positive and continue to be patient in these difficult times. Sending lots of love and thank you’s to everyone that continues to keep Amanda in their thoughts and prayers.

UPDATE: 05/16/20 -
Amanda is holding steady for today. She is responding well to dialysis and has been taken off the paralytic drug which means one step closer to getting her breathing on her own. She is still requiring a great amount of oxygen which we hope will be able to go down as the days move forward. We are staying hopeful though we know she won’t be out of the woods anytime soon. We still don’t know what exactly is causing her to be this sick. Her doctors along with the wonderful nurses are all working very hard to take care of Amanda and figure out how to help her get through this. We do want to let anyone who is wondering know COVID-19 has been ruled out since the beginning. She’s had three tests all concluding she does not have the virus.
