Help Shoug Rebuild a New Life After Deportation

Our beloved friend Shoug is going through removal proceedings from the United States and is facing imminent deportation.

After a trip out of the country in December 2024, Shoug was held at the U.S./Mexico border and her status was flagged. Since then, she has been fighting to legally stay in the United States. With recent updates, changes, and the new administration, this goal will likely not be met and it is expected that Shoug will likely be removed from the U.S. by no later than June 2025.

On May 1st she will be attending a meeting on her immigration status. It is unknown how this meeting will go, but she will likely be given a deadline for removal at this time or potentially be immediately deported. Shoug would like to stay in the U.S. and will appeal if possible, but it is unlikely an appeal will be granted.

Our time left with her physically is extremely limited and her friends and loved ones would like to do everything they can to support her at this time. For the last 9 years, Shoug has lived in the U.S. and called San Luis Obispo her home. She has touched the lives of many and has been an integral part of our SLO community. She is a loving and kind friend who has helped and supported many during her time here. Her leaving will be a huge loss to the family and friends that she has here.
