Support for Jake
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Jessie and I'm fundraising for my brother, Jake.
On Thanksgiving, Jake was cutting wood at his house when he sustained a major eye injury. He was rushed to Dartmouth where it was determined he had a very badly ruptured eye globe. He was in surgery for 4 hours (the first of multiple surgeries he will have to have) and the next day he met with his eye trauma team. His surgeon said his cornea looks remarkably better than he expected given the severity of the injury and the troubles they encountered during the operation. However, there was extreme damage to the optics, so although it looks better than expected, it is still very badly damaged and his iris is half gone. The hope is to keep the retina from detaching over the next several weeks and fight any infections.
It is unclear exactly what the outcome will be and if he will ever be able to see out of his eye or not. He goes for an appointment tomorrow to evaluate when the second of the next several surgeries will be scheduled. We are thankful to be so close to Dartmouth and know he is in the best possible hands there.
If you would like to assist with his financial burden, any donation is appreciated. All funds raised will go directly to Jake's medical costs.
We are so grateful for everyone that has reached out and we appreciate the love and support shown over the last few days.
