Support for Shayne's Memorial and Family Expenses

Dear Friends and Family,

 It is with profound sadness that we share the unexpected passing of Shayne, a beloved friend, brother, and son. Shayne touched so many lives with his kindness, humor, and loving, nurturing spirit, and his sudden loss has left us heartbroken.

 Shayne was only 23 years young, just weeks away from celebrating his 24th birthday on October 2nd. Tragically, Shayne passed away on the night of September 5th due to complications from tetanus. While trying to change an old rusty blade, he accidentally cut himself. He immediately cleaned and bandaged the wound, and at first, showed no signs of infection. However, within days, Shayne began to feel fevered and faint, and then sought medical attention, though it was unfortunately too late.

 By the time the paramedics had arrived, Shayne had already developed a severe infection, and his body began to spiral into sepsis. His immune system went into overdrive, leading to septic shock, where his organs were unable to get the blood and oxygen they needed. Despite the medical team’s best efforts to stabilize him, the sepsis rapidly progressed. Shaynes body then went into cardiac arrest twice, the paramedics were unable to revive him from the second. Shayne fought bravely, but his body couldn’t recover, and we tragically lost him far too soon.

 Our mother, a single mother of three, raised us with strength and love through all of life’s challenges. As a mother, this loss has hit her especially hard, and we are doing everything we can to support her during this time. In addition to covering Shayne’s funeral and memorial costs, we would like to lay him to rest in the Yukon, a place close to his heart and heritage. We are also raising funds for our mother’s emergency flight home to be with us, as well as for expenses for taking time off work during this time of grieving. Any contribution, big or small, will help ease the financial burden during this painful time. Your generosity will allow us to honor Shayne’s memory and bring our family together as we celebrate his life and say our goodbyes.
