Christina’s Recovery Fund

While waiting to cross the street in Brooklyn on July 15th, Christina was hit by a car that jumped the curb.
She was immediately taken to the trauma unit in Kings County Hospital. She suffered from a large laceration on her upper right thigh, and various serious injuries to her left leg including all ligaments torn in the knee and major open wounds which became infected and called for the removal of 75% of the skin topical and Internal on that area. Unfortunately in her time at Kings County, nurses neglecting to tend to the injuries often enough caused these infections. She has since been transferred to Jacobi Hospital ICU Burn unit for special treatment (V.A.C Ullta Negative Pressure wound Therapy System). She has had two surgeries so far and has a third on August 12th.
Doctors are hoping this will help with skin growth and allow them to do skin grafts. Down a long road ahead after more surgeries and intensive healing she will be transferred to the rehab center in the Hospital for intensive inpatient Physical Therapy.
Along with extensive and intense surgeries and long days in the hospital with a slow paced recovery, Christina is involved in a lawsuit against the individual driving the car that ran her over.
Legal fees and medical fees continue to pile up as the days pass, and the Pittaluga family has sacrificed work and home to spend countless nights in the hospital near Christina.
We have set this up in hopes that any financial alleviation will make the long road ahead any smoother for Christina and the entire family. Thank you for your support.
