Stroke Recovery Expenses

Donation protected

Hello, I am a long-time friend of Vaughan's and I am assisting him to resettle in his home after suffering 2 strokes in November 2022. These are his words......Several weeks ago, life "shook up" my world. I suffered 2 strokes within 2 weeks of each other. What a way to end 2022! Grateful that I am still here. Still the same ole me mentally. No sadness here! I am not accepting any "whoa is me" condolences. If you know me, you know that I am more resilient than ever. Reclaiming my ability to walk and use my left side has been a challenge. While I have not yet discovered what God's lesson is in this event, I do know I won't complain on my next hike or run :-). It's amazing how such an event brings forth an awareness of everyday blessings, like simple mobility, so easily taken for granted. I can say that these simple blessings will not go unnoticed moving forward. I have a great opportunity to listen on this road to recovery that lies ahead. I anticipate having a greater voice for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility. I am truly Thankful to my family, close circle of friends and fraternity brothers who have shown up. I trust that when I am done, I won't look like what I've been thru....and my story/ experiences will be colorful. PLEASE stop and take care of your health. Unknowingly, amidst the symptoms, I kept working....worried about deadlines and ALL things work! I didn't listen to my friends who wanted me to go to the emergency room; I thought I was just stressed. I charge you all to STOP! Listen and adjust your life's priorities before the adjustment is made for you.

Many of you have asked how you can help. This emergency has ushered in several needs that will make home life easier during my recovery; one being a dog walker (approximately $50 a day) and the second, installing special railings/hand grips, among other modifications, that will make it easier to move around my home. Please consider donating these to support these two needs rather than sending flowers.

I know many of you have called and or sent messages to me...Thank You. I am working with only one hand and limited mobility. I will respond as I am able.
