Hello,
Our dear friend and brother, Harry Conner is not someone to ask for help as most of you know. He is more inclined to giving help to others as he humbly and unselfishly does every single day through his beautiful charity he started, Philippines Mission for God’s Children.
Harry is facing a medical crisis in the Philippines and really now needs our help! Harry has been suffering some serious heart issues recently and had an appointment last week with his cardiologist there in the Philippines. After tests were done, Harry has been scheduled for an Angiogram to see if he is in need of at best case, an Angioplasty or worst case, open heart surgery. Because Harry no longer has medical insurance (explanation from him below) he must come up with the funds up front before having any procedures done. The estimate he was given for the angiogram to check which they will do is $1,800, the angioplasty could be between $3,000-8,000 and if open heart surgery it would be $20,000. None of this includes medications or any other unforeseen complications or needs. So in order for him to get this process going as soon as possible I wanted to start the Go Fund me to try and raise the funds for him as those that know him know he has not been feeling well lately. He has been missing feeling himself to help feed the children he helps through his church and charity. So anything we can now do to help him get started with the angiogram is greatly appreciated!
Thank You so much!
Andrea Ulm
For those of you that do not know our dear friend, Harry is from the US but has been living in the Philippines since 2016. Harry served in the US Army as a Drill Instructor, 101st Airborne, 3rd ID! But don’t let that fool you as Harry’s tough DI days have been left behind as he has followed his first Love, his Faith, by moving to the Philippines to work selflessly serving others, the under-served children in the remote villages around the island. Harry through his church over there, has help raise significant money for them in order to serve thousands of children for years now. But this isn’t all his heart led him to do, he also found it in his heart to help a Hero’s beautiful family fight to see their loved one awarded posthumously The Medal of Honor for his Valor and Bravery serving in Iraq. Harry started a group and rode his bicycle all the way from SFC Alwyn C. Cashe’s hometown in Oviedo, Florida to New York City to Ground Zero and back all to raise awareness. He continued to raise awareness until his family received the Medal of Honor last year for their deserving Hero, SFC Alwyn C. Cashe.

9/23/23 UPDATE:
Dear friends, Brother and Sisters, yesterday I had my consultation with my heart surgeon, Dr. Go. There is nothing new concerning my health or treatment for now but he did totally explain the angiogram and angioplasty procedures and what would be done. There was good news and bad news. The cost of the angiogram is 10,000 pesos, $200, less than I had been told. The bad news is the angioplasty is much more expensive. I thought around 180,000 pesos, around $3,600 for one stint but it is 320,000 for 1 stint, $6,400. Each additional stint is 90,000 pesos more, $1800. So that was not good news. Thank you so much to all of you who have donated to my gofundme account. I pray many more of you will find it in your heart to make a donation, of any amount, and perhaps share my link on your page. Thank you so very much and may God bless you more.
HEALTH UPDATE: I will have my consultation for my angiogram on Frida, September 22, 2023 at 10AM in Cagayan de Oro with my heart surgeon, Dr Go. That will be your Thursday night. I will let every one know what he says and when my angiogram will be.
Hopefully this will explain my lack of insurance one time. When I moved to the Philippines I was 63 almost 64 and I had military Tricare insurance in the United States. BUT you can not use Tricare in the Philippines unless your condition is SERVICE CONNECTED. Not just an act of God or Nature. Also there is NO military hospital in the Philippines just a small clinic at the Embassy who handle service connected issues. You ONLY have Tricare here if it is service connected. NOW, when I turned 65 Medicare charged me $200 a month out of my SS for Medicare which can NOT be used in the Philippines for anything, anywhere! Therefore it made no sense for me to continue carrying Medicare and paying the $200. So I opted out of Medicare. BUT, when you opt out of Medicare your Tricare ends also. So that is why I do NOT have VA insurance in the States. Therefore, I have no insurance my friends. I pray this clarifies everything.
