Supporting Justin

A special individual touched our lives and now that we know his story, we can’t sit back and not help out. Gail and Carol are starting this GoFundMe on behalf of a friend in Israel, Justin Becker. Like thousands of Israelis today, Justin has been deeply affected by October 7th and continues to struggle with many aspects of life. On Oct. 7th, Justin, a DJ, was on his way to the Nova festival. He didn’t make it on time. Many of his friends were killed there. At the same time, his (ex) wife and 2 sons were under attack on their kibbutz, Nachal Oz. Hiding out in their safe room while people around them were being slaughtered. Calling their father, asking him to come rescue them. Justin’s children remain traumatized with PTSD. Haunted by nightmares, resisting leaving home and going to school.

Justin is the supervising volunteer coordinator on Kibbutz Nir Oz. Without the volunteers, the kibbutz is unable to harvest the fields and begin to rebuild. Justin devotes himself to his work. Having already lost 67 friends to this war in Israel, he is waiting with urgency the return of his friends who are still being held hostage in Gaza. Below the surface, Justin is a highly traumatized individual, struggling to survive mentally, struggling to make a living, provide for his family and protect them. He has to date received very little financial compensation from the government for his work on the kibbutz.

Through this GoFundMe we are aiming to raise $7000 to help Justin with support for his children and purchase of a car. It is challenging for him to visit his children and move around to various areas in the country for work.
