My name is Ellis Mishulovich and I live near Washington, D.C. My uncle and his family — his wife, two daughters, and one of his daughter’s family — live in Kharkiv, Ukraine.  My uncle is 85 years old — old enough to remember the last time Kharkiv was attacked in 1941. Kharkiv is being systematically obliterated by Russian bombardment, which is killing civilians and destroying homes, schools and hospitals. A beautiful city is being reduced to rubble. If my family in Kharkiv manages to survive, their homes will almost certainly be destroyed, if they have not been destroyed already. Their lives in Ukraine are already forever shattered. I am helping them as much as I can, but it is not enough. More help is needed to get them out of Ukraine to safety and to rebuild their lives in Israel, Europe or the United States. I know the world is shocked by the incomprehensible brutality and horror of Russia’s war in Ukraine. Millions of Ukrainian civilians are suffering and many thousands have been killed or are in danger of being killed. Generous friends have asked me what they can do to help. Until now my response has been to contribute to organizations that are providing relief to Ukraine and to hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian civilians who have become refugees.
