Many people are wondering how to help the family of Sophia Weems.  This sweet girl has been a fighter since day 1 and now she needs our help.  Above all else, please pray for Sophia.  On December 31, she was rushed to Shands Children's Hospital in Gainesville.  Her body has begun rejecting her heart transplant, and as a result her kidney and liver functions began to shut down.  She is undergoing an intensive steroid treatment right now, and praise be to God, she is showing initial signs of improvement.  However, Benita and Samuel got news on January 3 that her pacemaker is not working properly.  Little Sophia will need surgery on January 4 in order to fix her pacemaker.  Depending on the invasiveness of the surgery, Sophia and her parents could be remaining in the hospital for at least another week.

We all know how expensive hospital stays can be, but to make matters more difficult this is all coming at the very beginning of the year and the Weems will have to pay a large quantity out of pocket.

People have already stepped up big time to help this family by providing food, a hotal room, and care for Sophia's brother, Ezra.
