Hope for Hank

Yesterday, June 2nd, Hank got out of our yard because he was putting that little bloodhound nose to work. He ran out into traffic on Victory Drive, one of the busiest roads in Savannah and a truck hit him. The man kept driving. Thankfully, some sweet souls ended up stopping and getting my baby moved to safety and called me. Delirious, I rushed him to our vet and he watched him for a few hours and diagnosed basically a bad concussion and sent Hank home on an IV with me. As soon as he got home, he started to come to, he woke up and tried standing and moving a few times, and would just fall limp. His demeanor was off though, I could tell something wasn't right. I called the Emergency clinic and they said to bring him in right away. Within 10 minutes, the vet was able to tell me that it was major head trauma and he shouldn't have been sent home. All through the night I called for updates, nothing significant, only minor improvements. He saw a neurologist this morning who says he may possibly have a fractured jaw and bleeding in the brain. They are able to do a CAT scan or MRI. They both are super costly and will only diagnose the problem, not fix it. So on top of that, he will most likely need surgery to correct his jaw and possible surgery to drain any blood in his brain. Being 20 years old, living on my own, I'm not able to afford this, but I can't imagine letting my 5 month old baby go so early. I'm going to fight because he's fighting for me. I was hesitant on making one of these, but anything will help so I figured I'd try.
