On October 28, 2025, Hurricane Melissa, a devastating Category 5 storm, wreaked havoc on Jamaica. Homes were obliterated, families were uprooted, and entire neighborhoods were left without electricity, water, or shelter.
I grew up in St. Ann, Jamaica. Regrettably, my community and my residence were among those impacted by the destruction caused by Melissa. I experienced significant damages — the roof was ripped off, flooding affected the interior, and fallen trees inflicted further harm across the property.
Witnessing my homeland in such turmoil has been deeply distressing, especially as I am currently recuperating from a recent knee surgery, which has left me unable to work and struggling financially to cope with this disaster. Nonetheless, I have faith in the strength and resilience of the Jamaican people and the Diaspora to support one another in this, our time of need. I remain prayerful, optimistic, and resolute that together, we can rebuild our lives and homes.
I am looking to raise $30,000 to tackle the significant damages caused by Melissa, to rebuild and replace the roof, and to fix the infrastructure and water damage across the property. Every contribution will help restore hope and a sense of normalcy for me and my community. If you're unable to donate, please think about sharing this campaign to help get the word out.
Jamaica is my home, where my heart lies, and the foundation of my identity. Even though this tragedy has impacted me personally, I am resolute in my commitment to help both myself and my community to bounce back stronger than before. “As long as we have life, anything is possible”.
Thank you immensely for your support!!!
