Jade's New Life
Hi there! My name is Jade, and I am 22 years old. My interests include animals, traveling, creating art and sushi. I am currently pursueing my career as a Freelance Artist, and I run a webcomic called Pastelmancer. (pastelmancer.com)
I come from a background of emotional, physical and sexual abuse. In attempts to cope with the abuse, I began to indulge in many self-destructive behaviors. By the time I turned 21, I suffered from severe depression, poor self-care, lack of energy (sleeping 18hrs a day) and extreme self-harm. I had attempted suicide multiples times, and at this time, I truly wished I was dead.
As I turned 22, I had no joy or hope for my future. I was not working, suffering breakdowns everyday, and going nowhere because of intense exhaustion. I was practically non-functioning, stewing in self-hatred, anger and fear.
But God still had a plan for me! People in my life encouraged me to get help, real help. So on November 1st, I walked into the doors of a program called Mercy Multiplied that would save my life. I am finishing up the program at six months, and my journey has just been amazing. Rebuilding my self-esteem, joy, relationships, my love for the world and Jesus. Through this program, I was able to to recognize painful truths that I had allowed myself to steep in over the years-anger, bitterness, entitlement and persistant hopelessness. But now, I am reclaiming my life, and it is just amazing!
At this current part of my journey, I am looking at housing and my future life. And that is where you, the person reading this, comes in!
I entered the program with roughly $30 to my name, and due to our financial manager's help, I have currently saved up $480 dollars. These savings are all going towards a car, so I can safely transport myself to future jobs!
As I look for jobs, I have to make sure my first few months of living is taken care of. The estimate for my first few months of rent, utilities, food, a small emergency fund and other necessities is roughly $2,500.
My goal is to raise this amount by the middle of June. Whether you donate or not, please boost this! It would mean the world to me. I'm ready to finally start my life with a healthy mind and soul. <3
