Bucks for Barry

My father, Barry Hart, is extremely ill and in critical condition in the ICU at York Hospital in York, PA. Barry was admitted to hospital a week ago following an illness over Thanksgiving and quickly deteriorated Saturday night and is in critical though stable condition in intensive care. It is very serious and this is the worst his health (and my family's mental health) has been since he was first diagnosed. Having been diagnosed with stage four B cell lymphoma early this year, he has battled cancer for ten long months. In light of his cancer, Lymes Disease, multiple infections. and more battles, he now faces pneumonia, sepsis and fungal infection in the lungs. These illnesses together with his weakened immune system from his most recent chemo treatment have caused him to be on the ventilator under heavy sedation while the infectious diseases, cancer, and internal health doctors manually take over his body. When I visited him over the weekend I didn't even get the chance to speak with him because he was not awake. Multiple doctors have told me that he is very sick, they are doing all that they can, but that he is young so there is hope. His gallbladder is being drained and may be the source of infection. It is surreal to be back in a similar place to where he was in February, at the brink of death and is breaking our hearts. After 10 months of chemotherapy for his B cell lymphoma and other complications, we did not expect this. So far his doctors do not think the lymphoma has returned.

This has taken a toll on my mother, brother, family and beloved friends. We hold your support as invaluable in these dire times, and it means more to us than you realize; it is something we will always remember. My mother is by my father's side holding his hand even if he is not awake to see it; this has made it more difficult for my mother to work and see patients at her private practice due to the immense distress and mental toll this has caused. My father earned the most money in the family, and without his financial support, my mother has more weight on her shoulders. Any donation would help and be very much appreciated. This time requires our presence with my father rather than having to worry about finances on top of everything else.
