Support Randy's recovery
Donation protected
Hello everyone
A few classmates from Churchill HS were fortunate to reconnect with Randy Determan and Sherrie Lubonski Determan in the fall of 2021. Randy was ready to head out on vacation in November but wasn't feeling well. Upon visiting his doctor he received the devastating news that he had Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML).
In April, Randy had a bone marrow transplant at OHSU, which required both of them to spend 100 days in Portland post-transplant. They stayed there until he was released on July 9th. He has been back and forth for 40 additional days due to setbacks. Disrupting their lives.
Currently, Randy has 100% donor cells and no signs of Leukemia. He is temporarily off his cancer drug (which prevents the Leukemia from returning) as this drug is hard on his liver. It will restart as soon as his liver heals.
During this time, Sherrie has been balancing supporting her husband and continuing to work at her job. Her insurance has covered everything after paying last year’s and this year’s deductible and the DME equipment Randy needed at home. Now Sherrie’s FMLA hours are used up. It has been an exhausting year, emotionally and financially.
What we are asking is to help them fund their $3,400 deductible that will be due in January to support his 2023 medical needs. Give what you can and please keep them in your prayers.
