Journey for the Warriors and Megan

Hi, my name is Walter Spangler. I am planning a run across the United States from San Diego, CA to Tybee Island, GA (2,413 miles) to support service member families who lost their spouse/parent in combat action overseas from the 173rd Aiborne Brigade Combat Team and 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne).

I also plan to support Megan Kessler's (Strempke) family. Megan and her mother tragically lost their lives in a car accident in September 2014. She is survived by her husband and three children. I had the privilege of knowing Megan in high school.  

Lastly, I am doing this for myself. I am an avid runner who wants to challenge himself both physically and mentally. I have been pondering the idea of running across the USA for years now. Finally making the decision to do it has been a "gut check" in itself. Getting across the deserts and terrain of the southwest and into the finish line is going to push me to my limits. Wish me luck!
