Doug Barnett's Heart Transplant
Donation protected
So many people have asked me how they can help so I have put together this fundraiser to do what we can as Doug and Lori’s friends to help reduce Doug’s medical bills so he can continue to focus on the fight of his life!
As many of you know, Doug has been having issues with being light headed and having shortness of breath for a few months. Last month while he was working out of town, his symptoms got worse so he went to the emergency room. He was admitted to the hospital and diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure. They performed a heart catheterization and the doctor told him that his heart is in bad shape and referred him to the UAB transplant unit. He cannot return to work and has to wear Life Vest (a defibrillator that you wear that shocks your heart if it stops beating) at all times. They have also put him on oxygen, as his oxygen levels were extremely low. He is now awaiting his appointment with the transplant doctors.
First and foremost, we continue to ask for all positive thoughts and prayers for Doug. Secondly, and of course the reason for this page, is to request donations to help Doug and his wife Lori afford this costly procedure and medical care. Many of you know that Doug is a millwright and his medical insurance is paid by the hours that he works. Because he is not working, they are having to pay out of pocket to continue with their medical insurance coverage, as well as medical bills that are starting to come in. Lori will continue to work when she can but Doug's condition will need a lot of her attention especially after the transplant.
We love you and thank you all so much for your continued prayers and any help you can give to Lori and Doug.
