Luke is on the road to recovery and will be starting rehab -- thank you to each and everyone of you who have supported our family through this!

Luke is a senior at Marquette University in Milwaukee and suffered a spinal cord injury in his cervical spine. He has had surgery and the doctors are telling us he is in for a long and difficult recovery. Once he is discharged from the hospital, he will be admitted into a spinal injury rehabilitation facility. Luke is 22 years old, a star athlete, and a Dean's List student. We are devastated by this turn of events and are asking for support to help pay for their unexpected travel and medical bills. Both my brother and his wife are teachers and have dedicated their professional lives to helping kids -- and we all know the limited salaries teachers are asked to live on so these large expenses are very difficult for them to absorb. Mark and Patty left their jobs and flew out to Milwaukee from Maine, to be with Luke for the surgery and subsequent recovery with very little understanding of what lied ahead. They are staying in a nearby hotel to be close to the hospital- and this may last several weeks. Luke is in tremendous pain from the injury and correlating nerve pain -- it's so difficult to see his suffering from afar, and even more difficult for his parents to witness, as you can imagine.
