On October 28, Hurricane Melissa caused the Barnett River—a section of the Montego River—to overflow, submerging the communities of Catherine Hall and Westgreen where I spent my earliest months, in Montego Bay, St. James. Water levels reached up to 12 feet in some areas, swallowing homes, roads, and livelihoods. My family was among those affected, losing nearly everything as floodwaters destroyed furniture, clothing, and essentials.
My mom and I are traveling to Jamaica soon with four suitcases of supplies to help them recover. Every dollar raised will go directly toward filling those bags with essentials—clothes, toiletries, and basic household items—to help our relatives and neighbors rebuild and restore a sense of normalcy.
Your support will bring real relief and hope to families in Westgreen who are starting over after this devastating flood. Thank you for standing with us.
