Ok. So.. I have never done anything like this, but I figured we would give it a try. Please read. Most of you already know, but for those of you who do not, Summer Byrum was diagnosed with Stage 4 Non Small Cell Carcinoma on December 22, 2015. From that day forward life as she knew it, came to a screeching halt. For those of you who don't know Summer, she leaves a mark on everyone she meets. Caring and genuine would be a start to decribe her beautiful spirit. She is a nurse and has spent most of her life taking care of people and always thinking and/or putting others ahead of her own needs. Well now, the time has come that she needs us to help her. (Although she would never ask for help, that's the kind of person she is☺)
She took chemo following her lobectomy in Dec 2015. Since then, she lost her house, her career, and moved back home with her loving and most supportive parents. She was taking all action in improving her health and wellness and feeling better. 2 weeks ago, after the 1st visit to the ER in a year, Summer was informed after a CT scan that the cancer has spread and she now has a tumor in her omentum, which for those of you who don't know, is your stomach lining that connects the stomach with other abdominal organs.
Plans are to start another round of chemo next week after receiving biopsy and PET scan results.
She is, as always remaining positive and more concerned for others than herself. She currently has insurance through her previous employer, which she pays, and is awaiting Medicaid eligibility. Unfortunately alot chemo drugs, diagnostics, treatment are mostly not covered or the copay is so astronaumical that someone surviving on disability can not afford.
So I am asking this, I know it's a terrible time of the year financially for most after just getting through the holidays. If we could just come together and pitch in anything for Summer, to try and help her with any of her struggles, take any burden off of her or her parents, I know it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all for reading, I know it was lengthy.
So, here's to Summer's lovin'❤❤
